The pillars of creation were first discovered when NASA’s Hubble space telescope capture the image of them in 1995. They are one of the most iconic nebula formations to have been found. The pillars of creation are part of the eagle nebula, which is also known as Messier 16. The towering pillars measure about 5 light years long.
